The Marshmallow Crochet Scarf is a new way to use the Marshmallow Crochet Blanket pattern.  The Marshmallow Crochet Scarf has all the beauty of the textured blanket with cool angled ends.   The sample shown in photos is Striped but a solid yarn could be used for a more classic look. The long color changes in the medium weight yarn makes the scarf look striped.

Size:

6″ x 60″wide

For the marshmallow crochet scarf I’m using the following tools

Tools & Yarn:

size H hook (5mm).

1 ball – Caron Cakes yarn  Macaron used in sample. 383 yards, 80% acrylic, 20% wool #4 medium worsted weight.

(You could use Premier Sweet Roll, 100% acrylic  245 yards, #4 medium weight approximately 2 balls needed)

[For Triangle Marshmallow Shawl approximately 2-3 balls of Caron Cakes or 4-6 balls of Premier Sweet Rolls are needed. Ch 169 for a wider shawl]

Abbreviations:

ch – chain
dc – double crochet
sc – single crochet
st(s) – stitch(es)

Pattern Notes:

To make your crochet scarf make a chain that is a multiple of 2 plus 3.  It is important to make sure foundation chain doesn’t twist while establishing the foundation.  The foundation row takes the longest.  Once you start Row 2 you will see how fast the rows work and how fast it grows on you!

Textured Stitch:

Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook. Skip next 2 ch. *(sc, 2 dc) in next ch, skip next 2 ch; repeat from * across, sc in last ch.
Row 2: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in 1st stitch. Skip next 2 sts, *(sc, 2 dc) in next ch, skip next 2 sts; rep from * across. sc in top of turning ch. Repeat “Row 2” till desired length.  (SEE NOTES BELOW FOR CHANGES)

 Main Pattern:

Chain 141

Row 1: dc in 3rd ch from hook. Skip next 2 ch. *(sc, 2 dc) in next ch, skip next 2 ch; repeat from * across, sc in last ch.

Row 2: ch 2, turn, 2 dc in 1st stitch. Skip next 2 sts, *(sc, 2 dc) in next ch, skip next 2 sts; rep from * across.  Stop repeat when two texture stitches from previous row are left. Sc in 3rd ch.

Repeat Row 2 until yarn ends with about 6″ left. Fasten off end of last full row with sc. Weave in ends.

Makes 1 scarf approximately 6″ X 60″

For Triangle Marshmallow Shawl end when 1 texture stitch can be made and fasten off row with sc. Weave in ends.

I made this pattern with 141 stitches and the size is certainly not 60" wide. It is more like 38". I think I will be giving this to a child.

I would like the dimensions you used for a long scarf. How many chains did you use? Tried 141 chains and it seemed very short.
