Inside: Learn how to crochet the Easy Basic Dishcloth with written instructions and tutorial videos for beginners.
I’m asked this question all the time.
What’s the best first project for a beginner learning to crochet?
While there’s no one project that is best, I’d suggest one that is small, simple and easy to memorize.
That’s how I designed the Easy Basic Dishcloth pattern. It uses only single crochet stitches and is perfect for a first project. The project goes with Lesson 1 of my How to Crochet series. This introductory lesson covers all the basics including, how to hold your yarn and hook, make a chain, turn your work, and more. The tutorial video below even includes tips to help you fix mistakes.
The pattern includes written instructions and links to fully captioned tutorial videos for both left and right handed crocheters.
My How to Crochet for Beginners PDF workbook includes this pattern. It has all 8 crochet lessons detailing everything you need to know to learn to crochet, links to fully-captioned tutorial videos for each lesson, and 6 full patterns just for new crocheters.
