Inside: Free pattern for the easiest loom knit ornament you’ll find. Includes written instructions and tutorial videos for left and right handed loom knitters.
The Easiest Loom Knit Ornament takes a plain round ball and turns it into a beautiful textured ornament. The lacy texture comes from the diamond lace (or figure 8) stitch. And with only 8 rounds of loom knitting, you’ll be done in minutes.
This versatile pattern works with a variety of yarns. I tested the pattern with cotton, basic acrylic and a fluffy yarn. It worked beautifully with all of them. I think the white one makes a perfect snowball.
This pattern includes written instructions and links to fully-captioned tutorial videos for both right and left handed loom knitters.

NOTES
This pattern is versatile since you can use a variety of yarns and yarn weights. If you want to use a lighter weight yarn, you may need to knit a few more rounds.
For ornaments larger than 3”, add 1 or more Flexee Loom links as needed.
Diamond Lace Stitch (also called figure 8 stitch): This stitch is a multiple of 2 stitches. Pairs of pegs are worked together and wrapped in a figure 8 pattern. Each stitch on the round gets worked twice making it twice the height of a standard stockinette row. This is what makes it look crocheted!
INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 12 pegs with the modified drawstring cast on.
Rnd 1: *Sl, EK, EK previous slipped stitch and knit over both. Rep from * to end of round until working yarn is coming from last peg and peg 1 has been worked 1 time again.
Rep Rnd 1 7 more times then bind off using the drawstring bind off.
Close the bottom drawstring then slip the cover around the ball. Draw the top closed. You can tighten it around the base of the metal hangar or over the top of it. Weave the bottom yarn tail up through the vertical stitches to the top. Weave the top yarn tail around the closed top. Use both yarn tails to tie a hanging loop and trim ends.
