This easy, crochet Pet Bandana will keep your pup (or cat) in style!
The triangle shaped bandana is worked in one piece and includes a casing to slide it right onto your pet’s collar. There are no ties and no risk of your pet wiggling out of it. (Unless you already have an excape artist who can’t keep a collat on.)
I included 5 sizes from Small to XXLarge so, no matter how small or big, you can find one that will be a perfect fit for your furry friend.
You can even embellish the basic design with surface crochet and I included the videos below to show you how. These are some of the designs I added to my needle knit and loom knit versions of this pattern. Doesn’t Rudy look serious in this picture?

Medium (#4) weight yarn
Yarn Bee Soft & Sleek (5 oz/142 g, 232 yds./ 213 m) color Green Apple used in sample.
Hook
US Size H (5 mm) hook
Ergonomic Hook by Loops & Threads used in sample.
Measuring tape
Tapestry needle
ABBREVIATIONS
Ch = Chain
DEC – Decrease; Insert hook in next st, yo and pull up a loop, insert hook into next st, yo and pull up a loop. Yo and pull through all loops; decreases 2 stitches to 1.
DEC2 – Decrease 2; Insert hook in next st, yo and pull up a loop, repeat twice. Yo and pull through all loops; decreases 3 stitches to 1.
hdc = half-double crochet
Rep = Repeat
Rem = Remain
Sl = slip stitch
St(s) = Stitch(es)

SIZES S (M, L, XL, XXL)
MEASUREMENTS
Small (fits up to ¾” collar): 6” x 5” (15 cm x 12.5 cm)
Medium (fits up to 1” collar): 7.5” x 6.5” (19 cm x 16.5 cm)
Large (fits up to 1” collar): 8.75” x 7.5” (22 cm x 19 cm)
X-Large (fits up to 1.5” collar): 9.75” x 8.5” (24.75 cm x 21.5 cm)
XX-Large (fits up to 2” collar): 10.5” x 9.5” (26.5 cm x 24 cm)
INSTRUCTIONS
Ch 20 (24, 30, 34, 36).
Foundation Row: Hdc into second chain from the hook. Hdc in next chain to end of row. Turn.
Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in next st to end of row.
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 2.25” (3”, 3”, 3.5”, 4”) or until desired length; 6 (8, 8, 10, 12) rows on samples. Turn.
Casing for Collar:
Row 2: Ch 1, hdc in next st and through chain in foundation row to join. Hdc across picking up foundation stitches to join. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, hdc across. Turn.
Decrease:
Row 4: Ch 1, hdc until 2 sts rem. DEC. Turn.
Rep Row 4 three times.
Decrease:
Row 5: Ch 1, DEC. Hdc until 2 sts rem. DEC. Turn.
Rep Row 5 until 3 (2, 3, 3, 3) sts rem.
DEC2 (DEC, DEC2, DEC2, DEC2). Yarnover and pull through, cut tail and fasten off. Weave in ends.
[Optional] Slip stitch crochet to add an initial, name or design to personalize your pet’s bandana.
