Inside: Video tutorial to teach needle knitters how to knit through the back loop, k1tbl.
When you see the abbreviation k1tbl, or k1 tbl, you need to knit through the back loop of the stitch.
This creates a twisted knit stitch and look different than a traditional knit stitch. Instead of the smooth “V” this stitch is shaped like a “Y” and doesn’t lie as flat.
Another interesting feature of this stitch pattern is that it adds some extra stretch to your fabric. The k1tbl is a bit looser than a knit stitch.
Because of its distinctive look and extra stretch it’s best not to substitute this stitch for a traditional knit stitch in a pattern.
