How to Knit: V Eyelet Lace Stitch Pattern

How to Knit: V Eyelet Lace Stitch Pattern

Inside: Learn how to knit the V eyelet lace stitch pattern. Includes written instructions for 2 common blanket square sizes, knitting chart for the stitch pattern and fully-captioned tutorial videos.

While working on the lesson How to Knit 3 East Eyelets I designed a simple eyelet lace blanket square. But I really wanted to play around with some stitch patterns that used eyelets to create unique designs.

Simple Eyelet Lace, V Eyelet Lace and Garter Inverted V Eyelet Lace
(left to right)

The V eyelet lace stitch is easy to knit and absolutely beautiful. By combining right and left leaning decreases when making the eyelets you get the distinctive V shape.

The V Eyelet Lace blanket square uses a pattern of eyelets to create this eye-catching design. This lacy blanket square pattern is available in 2 sizes: 7” x 9” and 12” x 12”.

Pattern includes written instructions for 2 common sizes, knitting chart of the stitch pattern and links to fully captioned tutorial videos that teach how to make the eyelets.

NOTES

I’ve included two square sizes in this pattern that are commonly used to make blankets.

The V eyelet lace stitch pattern is a multiple of 11+2 stitches and uses an 8 row repeat.

The written instructions include a seed stitch border. The chart does not show this border and is intended only to show the main stitch pattern for the 7”x9” square.  (Additional repeats of the stitch pattern are used in the 12” square)  If you decide to change the size be sure to add your own border to prevent the edges from curling.
